By Dean Hobson, in his own words.
Why this is here. This room is about Social Death: being erased while you are still alive. Infantilizing a woman is one of its quietest forms. She makes an adult choice that does not fit the group’s story of how things should be, so the group rewrites her as incompetent or a victim, and rewrites the other person as a predator. She keeps her life and loses her standing as a competent adult. That is social death wearing the face of concern. The teaching below reads that machine, by role only.
Infantilizing a grown woman because you don’t agree with her choices minimizes actual victimization.
This collapses adult female agency into child-status.
When a woman is 20, 30, or 35 and you still talk about her as though she is incapable of consent, discernment, pattern recognition, or consequence, you are not protecting women. You are stripping them of adulthood. You are recasting grown women as mentally suspect any time they choose something you personally would not choose.
That framing is its own form of control.
It says a woman is only empowered when her choices match the observer’s ideology. If she dates an older man, now she is naive. If she prefers a certain dynamic, now she is conditioned. If she chooses freely but others disapprove, now her consent is treated as invalid. That is not liberation. That is paternalism wearing feminist language.
It also creates a dangerous moral flattening. When people start calling every age-gap relationship “pedophilia,” they destroy the seriousness of actual child abuse. A consenting adult woman is not a child. Using the same label for both is reckless, intellectually lazy, and corrosive. It confuses discomfort with harm and preference with predation.
There is a real conversation to be had about power, manipulation, immaturity, coercion, trauma reenactment, and exploitative dynamics. That conversation matters. But it has to be honest. The issue is not “older man plus younger woman equals abuse.” The issue is whether there is deception, coercion, manipulation, dependency, or domination that overrides real consent. Those are not the same thing.
The deeper wound this post hits is that many people claim to support women, but the moment a woman chooses outside their approved framework, they revoke her sovereignty. They do not trust her judgment. They do not honor her adulthood. They do not grant her the dignity of risk, discernment, or consequence. They want agency for women in theory, but not when that agency produces uncomfortable choices.
“The fastest way to expose fake empowerment is to watch who still calls a grown woman a child when her desire, consent, or choice makes them uncomfortable.”
